Hello all..... sorry I haven't posted much in a long time! So for sure, I have four pregnant goats, Mimosa, Nutmeg, Eddie, and Tip-it. Mimosa is due on January 1st, Eddie is due February 18th, and Nutmeg and Tip-it are due somewhere between mid February and mid March. I have started to prep the barn and outdoor pens for winter. Notice I said started. I haven't got very far, but I hope to finish cleaning out stalls, and laying down the straw before the snow really starts to hit.
Around this time I like to trim the goats hooves before kidding season starts, or before it gets too cold, because then your hands tend to freeze, and you can't move the clippers. Whichever comes first! I have a milking stand and it is so much easier with newer goats, or any goats in general! I have a few websites I love to look at, and thought I would post a few just for general information: -Fias Co Farm = (fiascofarm.com/) if you just search this you can find it. She has more websites on hers, but I just like it because she has had tons of experience, and knows all the basics. -Goat Wisdom = (www.goatwisdom.com/)She knows all about the diseases goats can get, how to cure them, and how to prevent them. Its just a nice thing to know! -Caprine Supplies =(www.caprinesupply.com/) This website has a lot of stuff that normal animal stores don't have, so it always good to look threw that website to see if there is anything you couldn't find in an animals store around you. -Grasse acres= ( grasseacres.com/) This in one of my favorite websites to look at. She has farm pictures, information, and a lot of general tips. It is super helpful if you just want to know a bit more about goats, and why to choose Nigerian Dwarfs! These are just a few of my favorite websites to look threw once in a while, and I thought I would share them with everyone! Thanks for reading! -Miriam S.
